Review - Syncros Fork Fender
I am a sucker for purpose-built products; it is just so satisfying when something is made for a particular use and designed to fit perfectly. This fender is one of those cases.
The Syncros Fork Fender is now available for ~$13 and is designed to fit perfectly on a Fox fork. While we do not have trails that can be ridden in the mud, it does serve a purpose in Austin beyond keeping the mud out of your eyes: it block dog poop and rocks from making there way up above your moving wheels.

Santa Fe Rail Trail - Santa Fe
Wow. How about a great quick daily ride that starts right downtown and gets you ~30 miles (out and back) on paved trails and gravel. This fast and flowy route isn't going to get you great elevation or technical challenges but if you just want to get out and spin the legs. it can't be beat. One cool feature is the train trestle from the "Breaking Bad" train robbery scene.

Winsor Trail - Santa Fe
The Winsor trail is about 9-10 miles long, but you can double your fun by climbing it up, ~3800 feet, and then bombing back down. If you only want the downhill experience, there is a bus from downtown Santa Fe that will take you to the top.

Review - Pirelli Scorpion Tires
I have been very happy with the mountain bike tires that I have been been running, Maxxis Ardent on one bike and On-One Chunky Monkey on the other. Over the years I've had no issues and based on the cost of tires and length of search for a new one, I was always hesitant to try something new. Veloorangutan started carrying the Pirellis and I was intrigued by the tire, so I gave them a spin on my Orbea Occam. After 3-4 technical rides, on the BCGB Greenbelt and a speed lap at Walnut Creek, I think these are a great tire for Austin riding.
