Bukit Timah, Singapore

Get set for humidity. This place makes Houston look like a desert. For as dense an island as Singapore is, it's pretty amazing to find a nature preserve of this size right in the middle.

The trails are pretty easy overall, it's a nice ride for a Saturday afternoon or when you are looking for some fast fun. I borrowed a bike from a friend, so I had to overcome the shortcomings of an early-90's hardtail with little or no suspension and plastic flats. Let's just say my feet were all over the place.

Location:

Singapore

Directions:

Travelling from the city, follow the direction of Upper Bukit Timah Road towards Woodlands, make a u-turn just after the Courts furniture store and turn left into Hindhede Drive. Limited parking is available at the foothill of the reserve.

Technical Level:

Low

Length:

We rode about 11KM and there are a few other trails out there that we bypassed.

Trails:

It's a tropical environment, so expect mud in places. The trails are hard pack sand and generally well maintained.

Trail Map:

Extras:

Monkeys, lizards.

Post Ride Beer:

Tiger. And lots of it.
