Reimer's Ranch was originally a rock climbing and hunting ranch out in the outskirts of Austin, but they added mountain biking to the list of activities. David Cardosa oversaw the trails and built most of it himself - and did an excellent job at that.

The trails are fast - really fast. With clean lines, broad switchbacks and open spaces, you can really haul across the trails. The signage on the trails is similar to the signs that you see on ski slopes to denote the skill level, green, blue and black.

The ground is very open, so be sure to not only bring water with you but also keep some in a cooler back at your car. Dehydration is very easy out here with all of the direct sunlight.

Since the city has taken over the facilities have really been upgraded.
Location:

Reimers Ranch is in Dripping Springs, Texas. More specifically the address is 23610 Hamilton Rd., Dripping Springs, TX 78620.
Directions:

Take Highway 71 west of Austin to Hamilton Pool Road. Take a Left on Hamilton Pool Road and follow it for about 11 miles. The County put new signs up so it is much easier to find. Once you turn in, it's about another 2 miles down the park road.

Low. Wear lots of sunscreen, this is pretty hot terrain. I've never rode in Mexico, but I figure it is probably like this.
Extras:

The ranch is right on the banks of the Pedernales River, so you can take a quick dip and cool off after your ride. Showers and bathrooms have been added at the trailhead, along with a pump track.
