Poured generously into an American pint glass it produced a thick head that disappeared quickly. There was a nutty aroma with the smell of molasses or slightly burnt sugar. The sweet malt flavor was balanced out well with the bitterness from the hops, but I like a brown ale to be heavy on the nutty/bready malt character. This one is well balanced, meaning the malt character didn't stand out like I enjoy in a Brown Ale. I would prefer a different Brown Ale but I would visit the brewpub again and try one of their other beers. I did try some of their other beer, but I don't remember them well enough to review.
